Youth Arrested, Investigation Continuing After Fire in Deep River

(DEEP RIVER, ON) – On April 14, 2026, shortly after 2:00 p.m., Deep River Fire responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at the marina. Crews located the fire and quickly brought it under control.

Following a preliminary examination of the scene, the fire was deemed suspicious. The Fire Chief requested assistance from a fire investigator with the Deep River Police Service to determine the Origin and Cause. Through a joint investigation, authorities determined that the fire had been intentionally set.

After several days of continued investigation, police have made an arrest. A youth, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with one count of arson. The accused has been released into the custody of a parent with conditions. Damage resulting from the fire is estimated between $8,000 and $10,000.
