OPP Warn About Recent Thefts from Vehicles
28 April 2026
(ARNPRIOR, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising the public of an increase in thefts from vehicles in the Arnprior area.
Officers have responded to multiple reports of vehicles being entered and items stolen. In many of these incidents, the vehicles were left unlocked, making them easy targets for opportunistic thieves.
Police are reminding residents to take simple precautions to reduce the risk of becoming a victim:
- Always lock your vehicle, even when parked in your driveway
- Do not leave valuables in plain view (e.g., wallets, electronics, loose change)
- Remove or secure garage door openers and spare keys
- Ensure windows and sunroofs are fully closed
Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to police immediately. If you observe someone checking vehicle door handles or acting suspiciously, do not approach-contact police.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact the Renfrew OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.valleytips.ca.
The Renfrew OPP thanks the public for their cooperation and continued vigilance in helping keep our communities safe.
