OPP INVESTIGATING SUSPICIOUS DEATH IN GREATER MADAWASKA TOWNSHIP

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a suspicious death in the Township of Greater Madawaska.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, just before 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a call for service on Lanark Road in Greater Madawaska Township, where one person was located deceased.
Investigators believe this this is an isolated incident with no signs of a broader threat. Police continue to investigate and are actively monitoring the situation. Residents of the area can expect to see an increased police presence as officers continue the investigation.
This investigation is being conducted by the Renfrew County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.
