OPP INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE

Identity of deceased confirmed

(DEEP RIVER, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Deep River Police Service (DRPS) have now confirmed the identity of a homicide victim.

On December 11, 2022, shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers attended a residence on Rutherford Avenue in Deep River where one person was located deceased.

The victim has now been identified as Sommer BOUDREAU, 39 years old of Deep River.

A 41-year-old male from Deep River was earlier charged under the Criminal Code with Second Degree Murder – section 235(1) and Indignity to a body – section 182(b). He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke on December 15, 2022.

The investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in conjunction with the DRPS, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) is continuing, with the assistance of the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Regional Support Team (RST) and the UOV OPP Crime Unit.

OPP INVESTIGATING DEATH

Second-degree murder charge laid

(DEEP RIVER, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), working collaboratively with the Deep River Police Service (DRPS), has laid charges in connection with a death investigation in the Town of Deep River.

On December 11, 2022, shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers attended a residence on Rutherford Avenue in Deep River to conduct a well-being check, where one person was located deceased.

An investigation was launched under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), in conjunction with the DRPS, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS).

The identity of the deceased person remains under investigation.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Regional Support Team (RST) and the UOV OPP Crime Unit.

Adam ROSSI, age 41, of Deep River, has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Second-degree murder – section 235(1)
  • Indignity to a body – section 182(b)

The accused was held for a bail hearing on December 12, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke.

Believed To Be No Threat To Public Safety

(Deep River, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in conjunction with the Deep River Police Service, is investigating a death in the Town of Deep River.

On December 11, 2022, shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers attended a residence on Rutherford Avenue to conduct a well-being check, where one person was located deceased.

While the cause of death cannot yet be confirmed, investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety. The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.

OPP units, working collaboratively with the Deep River Police Service, include the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), Forensic Identification Services (FIS), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Regional Support Team (RST) and the UOV OPP Crime Unit.

The investigation is in its early stages, and no further details can be released. Residents of the area should expect to see a large police presence.
