(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV)
Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a serious collision on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township.
The collision occurred on September 25, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Highway 17 between Highway 41 and Sawmill Road. Preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound passenger vehicle collided with an eastbound cyclist.
The 63-year-old cyclist from Germany was transported to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics and later transferred to Ottawa-area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the motor vehicle was not injured.
A section of Highway 17 was closed between Highway 41 and Sawmill Road for approximately eight hours due to the collision. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members.
