Arson Investigation Launched: Fires at Pembroke High School Prompt Intense Probe

Two fires set in separate washrooms

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating after two fires were set in separate washrooms at a high school in Pembroke.

UOV OPP officers and the Pembroke Fire Department responded to the incident on the afternoon of October 31, 2023. Once discovered, the fires were extinguished by school staff and students were evacuated from the school for a short period of time. The fires were contained to the washrooms and did not spread. No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the incident as arson and have identified persons of interest in this case. The investigation is continuing.
